Are you an avid outdoorsman or woman? Do you enjoy spending long days in the backcountry? Ever wanted to be on TV? If you answered yes to those questions then NBC may be looking for you. The network has announced that is has begun casting a new outdoor adventure show that will be hosted by survival expert Bear Grylls and will pit teams of two against one another for a large cash prize.
The producers of the show say that in order to win this competition the teams will need to work well together while displaying plenty of determination, resiliency and courage. At the start of filming, the competitors will be dropped into a remote location where they’ll attempt to avoid elimination, while completing various challenges, on their way to the finish line. That description is not unlike some other reality television programs currently on the air, although the remote outdoor environment promises to introduce some new wrinkles to the format.
If you’re interested in auditioning for the show, applications are being accepted now. The process begins by sending an email containing the names of both members of your team, your relationship to one another and occupations to firstname.lastname@example.org. That email should also contain brief biographies about the two competitors, a short message as to why you would make good contestants, as well as contact information and photos. Applicants must be 21 years of age on February 1st, 2013 and have a valid passport that allows them to travel to foreign countries.
Beyond the information above, not much more is known about the show at this time. Producers promise that “this is the ultimate outdoor adventure competition show” and the inclusion of Grylls as host seems to back this up. Bear’s former show, Man vs. Wild, was a popular one amongst outdoor enthusiasts. That program featured its host being stranded in some of the harshest environments on the planet where he demonstrated ways to survive in those places. Man vs. Wild let Bear’s larger than life personality shine through, which is likely to be the case in this new show as well.
