The Epic Pass and Epic Race: A Globe Trotting Trek to Earn a Lifetime Season Pass

With winter just around the corner, now is the time to put your plans together for where to go this season.  Before you know it, the warmth of spring will be melting the snow, and those deep powder days will have come and gone for yet another year.

But making plans for where to go in the future can be difficult when you have no idea where and when it will snow.  Ski/snowboard trips aren’t cheap, and gambling on where to organize your trip can sometimes provide disappointing effects.

But who says that you have to commit to only one place?  If you are going to ski/board for more than a couple weekends this year, the single-mountain commitment is usually due to the fact that, in order to not go bankrupt, you bought a season pass at a particular mountain.

But did you know that you can have your cake and eat it too?  Cheaper than a week of day tickets at most resorts, you can have an UNLIMITED season pass to 12 different resorts in the USA!  Not only that, but you will also receive 5 days to choose from a some of the best resorts in Europe.

The pass allows you to chase the snow whenever it suits you best.  If there is a drought in Colorado you can head to Utah for the weekend.  Or maybe you have a thing to go to in the bay area and want to duck away to Tahoe for a few days after.  Never before has there been so many fantastic options to ski under one pass.

To celebrate, Vail Resorts has offered an epic contest to  complement the epic pass:  The Epic Race.  The rules are pretty simple:  Don’t ski more than one resort in a day (except in Europe where they are interconnected), and be one of the first 10 people to ski all 26 resorts in one season. Other than that, there are no requirements except to have enough money (or credit) to make the journey, and to blog about your adventures along the way.

All the information can be found on the website listed above.  Oh yeah, there is a prize involved to the 10 fastest – a lifetime epic pass.  That means you will never pay for a season pass ever again, and will have the choice to be a winter vagabond for the rest of your years.  Not a bad deal if you ask me.

So gas up your camper van, stock up on granola bars, make sure you have a few extra pairs of dry socks, and build the quads up for what could be the most epic winter of your life!
