6 Fall Marathons to Get You Moving

Cool fall weather makes everything more enjoyable- especially running. It’s the perfect season to sign up for a marathon. Here are 6 fall races you don’t want to miss.

U.S. Air Force Marathon
Located in Dayton, OH this annual 26.2 mile loop kicks off in September. 15,000 runners made up of military personal and regular civilians will encompass the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, passing historical sites such as the National Museum of the United States Air Force, the Air Force Institute of Technology and the Wright Brothers Memorial Monument.

Portland Marathon
This October marathon has been around for awhile- over 40 years to be exact- and has garnered a reputation for being an all around fun and well organized Boston Qualifier. Runners start and end in downtown Portland. A half marathon option is offered as well.

Nike Women’s Marathon
Ladies, this one’s for you. The 26. 2 mile marathon which takes place Oct. 20 in San Francisco, CA is the largest women’s marathon in the world. Participants receive a custom designed Tiffany & CO. necklace at the finish line and the best part- it’s handed to each by a sexy, firefighter. Need I say more?

The ING New York City Marathon
This is the world’s largest marathon, with 26.2 miles reaching to all far corners of New York City. The race takes off Nov. 3, with Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York” blaring at the start in Staten Island.

Catalina Eco Marathon
You can expect a remote and beautiful landscape on this 26 miler located off the coast of Long Beach in Avalon, CA. The race takes place on Nov. 9 and offers some challenges with trails, dirt roads and a difficult hill known as the “Catalina Crush.”

Rock’n’Roll Las Vegas Marathon
Experience Las Vegas in a whole new way by running 26.2 through the infamous Las Vegas Strip. After the race, which takes place in November, participants are invited to attend a special after-party at LAVO nightclub; what’s Las Vegas without a little partying?
